Setra reported an operating loss of SEK 122 million (\u20ac12.1 million) for Q1 2026, compared to a loss of SEK 75 million (\u20ac7.4 million) in the same period last year, reflecting continued market caution and an imbalance between finished goods prices and raw material costs.<\/p>\n
Net sales declined to SEK 1,351 million (\u20ac134 million) from SEK 1,536 million (\u20ac153 million) a year earlier. The company\u2019s EBITDA came in at negative SEK 69 million (\u20ac6.9 million), compared to negative SEK 23 million (\u20ac2.3 million) in Q1 2025. The operating margin stood at negative 9.0%.<\/p>\n
Market conditions for the wood industry remained strained during the quarter, with high inventories of finished products across Sweden and Finland. A stronger Swedish krona early in the year\u2014followed by some weakening\u2014combined with cold weather across Setra\u2019s production regions, contributed to lower output and logistical disruptions.<\/p>\n
The company noted that Storm Johannes is expected to significantly affect the raw material situation in the Bergslagen region. Setra is working to ensure that as much storm-damaged wood as possible can be recovered and processed into sawn products.<\/p>\n
Efforts to improve internal efficiency are ongoing and have now entered Phase 2. According to the company, the impact is becoming visible through a sustained reduction in fixed costs.
