These include a lack of legal certainty, compliance requirements seen as unrealistic, and administrative burdens linked to reporting obligations, including submissions to the central data repository. According to the organisations, these issues disproportionately affect operators and could lead to market disruption.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1058\" data-end=\"1255\">They warn of potential supply shortages, higher costs and reduced competitiveness for EU sectors, while questioning whether the current framework effectively addresses the drivers of deforestation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1499\">Measures adopted at the end of December 2025, including targeted simplifications and a one-year postponement of implementation, are acknowledged as steps in the right direction. However, the signatories say that many issues remain unresolved.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1501\" data-end=\"1923\">With a further simplification review expected by 30 April 2026, the organisations are urging the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">European Commission<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">European Parliament<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Council of the European Union<\/span><\/span> to use this opportunity to introduce targeted legislative adjustments. These should ensure that the Regulation is practical, proportionate and capable of being implemented consistently across Member States.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1925\" data-end=\"2282\">They also call for efforts to avoid duplication in requirements, clarify key provisions and establish a realistic timeline that allows operators to adapt without disrupting supply chains. Continued dialogue with stakeholders is seen as essential to developing workable solutions that balance environmental objectives with economic and operational realities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2284\" data-end=\"2521\">The organisations stress that the credibility of the Regulation depends on its ability to prevent products linked to deforestation from entering supply chains while safeguarding the viability of European primary producers and industries.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2523\" data-end=\"3212\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The statement is supported by a wide range of sectoral organisations, including <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Copa-Cogeca<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">CEI-Bois<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">FEDIOL<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">FEFAC<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Coceral<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">AVEC<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">UECBV<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">FEFBEP<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">APAG<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">CESIO<\/span><\/span>, among others.
