Currency volatility and shifting US trade policy are complicating contract negotiations, with exporters increasingly limiting forward commitments. Deals are being closed on shorter terms, often with stricter clauses on delivery and price adjustments.<\/p>\n
US tariffs introduced in 2025 continue to weigh on shipments. Rates peaked at 50% before being reduced to around 10% earlier this year, but volumes have not returned to previous levels. Part of the material that would normally move to the US is now being redirected to other markets, particularly in Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n
This shift is adding supply pressure in those destinations, where buyers have more leverage and are pushing for lower prices. As a result, exporters are facing thinner margins even when volumes are maintained.<\/p>\n
