S\u00f6dra's inventory after storm Dave shows that around one million cubic meters of forest have been damaged on member land in G\u00f6taland.<\/p>\n
V\u00e4stra G\u00f6taland County and parts of J\u00f6nk\u00f6ping County are the hardest hit. The storm-fallen volume consists mainly of spruce (61 percent), followed by pine (35 percent) and hardwood (4 percent). The proportion of pine is slightly higher than normal in storm damage.<\/p>\n
''The storm came late in the season, which means that we need to work quickly to take care of the storm-fallen timber to reduce the risk of damaged spruce becoming a breeding ground for spruce bark beetles. We therefore urge everyone affected by the storm to quickly inventory their forest and contact their advisor to plan remediation,'' says Kim Gunnarsson, Head of Raw Material Supply at S\u00f6dra, in a press release.<\/p>\n
S\u00f6dra is now reallocating resources by relocating personnel and by redirecting logging resources and truck capacity to the hardest hit areas. The logging rate may temporarily decrease in areas with less storm damage, both due to prioritization of storm-fallen timber and a lower industrial demand for sawn timber during the period.<\/p>\n
