The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties of 5.4% on imports of softwood plywood from Brazil, concluding an investigation that found the products were sold in the EU at unfairly low prices, harming domestic producers.<\/p>\n
The duties apply to all Brazilian exporters except one company, for which the investigation found no evidence of dumping. The measures confirm provisional duties introduced on November 4, 2025, at the same level.<\/p>\n
The Commission said its probe showed that Brazilian softwood plywood entered the EU market at prices below fair market value, putting pressure on EU producers and affecting profitability across the sector.<\/p>\n
The EU softwood plywood industry, which is spread across several member states, employs more than 1,500 people and supplies a range of downstream sectors.<\/p>\n
EU consumption of softwood plywood is estimated at around 600 million euros per year. Imports from Brazil account for approximately 216 million euros, representing a significant share of external supply. Overall imports from outside the EU are valued at about 352 million euros annually.<\/p>\n
The Commission said the measures aim to restore a level playing field in the EU market by addressing price undercutting linked to dumped imports.<\/p>\n
The decision follows a formal investigation launched after complaints from EU producers, who argued that low-priced imports from Brazil were undermining the competitiveness of domestic manufacturing.<\/p>\n
