{"id":98456,"date":"2026-04-16T06:00:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T06:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/log-prices-fall-sharply-in-norway\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T06:00:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T06:00:14","slug":"log-prices-fall-sharply-in-norway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/log-prices-fall-sharply-in-norway\/","title":{"rendered":"Log prices fall sharply in Norway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->Norway\u2019s timber harvest remained high in the first quarter of 2026, but prices for both sawlogs and pulpwood have declined significantly, reversing last year\u2019s record levels.<\/p>\n<p>According to data from the Norwegian Agriculture Agency, total timber harvest reached 3.76 million cubic metres in the first quarter, up by 0.13 million cubic metres compared with the same period in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeasured volumes after the first quarter of 2026 show that harvesting activity remains high and slightly above last year\u2019s level,\u201d the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Despite strong harvesting activity, timber prices have been falling steadily since autumn and are now below levels seen at the beginning of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The decline has affected both construction timber (sawlogs) and wood for the pulp and paper industry.<\/p>\n<p>Prices for sawlogs dropped sharply between December 2025 and March 2026. Spruce prices fell by 7.3% to NOK 915\/m\u00b3 (\u2248 \u20ac79\/m\u00b3), while pine declined by 10.9% to NOK 764\/m\u00b3 (\u2248 \u20ac66\/m\u00b3).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalwoodmarketsinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/norw.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pulpwood prices also recorded significant declines. Spruce pulpwood fell by 16.3% to NOK 478\/m\u00b3 (\u2248 \u20ac41\/m\u00b3), while pine pulpwood dropped by 15.2% to NOK 447\/m\u00b3 (\u2248 \u20ac38\/m\u00b3) in March.<\/p>\n<p>The downturn follows exceptionally strong price levels in 2025. In June last year, timber prices reached their highest level since 1987, with an average of around NOK 834\/m\u00b3 (\u2248 \u20ac72\/m\u00b3).<\/p>\n<p>However, prices began to weaken later in the year. Nort\u00f8mmer, a timber trading company owned by the forest owners\u2019 association Norskog, adjusted prices downward as market conditions softened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2025, we experienced price declines of NOK 150 per cubic metre within a short period,\u201d said Arne R\u00f8r\u00e5, chairman of Nort\u00f8mmer and chief executive of Norskog.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":98457,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"Default","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5204],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-98456","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-daily-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 -
