{"id":98346,"date":"2026-03-31T06:05:24","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T06:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/spearhead-invests-60m-in-glulam-facility-in-nelson-canada\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T06:05:24","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T06:05:24","slug":"spearhead-invests-60m-in-glulam-facility-in-nelson-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/spearhead-invests-60m-in-glulam-facility-in-nelson-canada\/","title":{"rendered":"Spearhead invests $60m in glulam facility in Nelson, Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"65\" data-end=\"220\"><!--more-->Spearhead is investing $60m in a new glue-laminated timber (glulam) production facility in Nelson, expanding its capacity in engineered wood manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"222\" data-end=\"526\">The new plant, under construction adjacent to the company\u2019s existing operations in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Nelson<\/span><\/span>, will introduce a dedicated glulam production line alongside advanced CNC machining, strengthening its capabilities in complex timber structures and prefabricated building components.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"528\" data-end=\"794\">The facility will be equipped to produce straight, curved and double-curved glulam elements, with lengths of up to 80 ft. Production will use locally sourced softwoods, as well as mixed species and selected hardwoods, broadening the range of structural applications.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"796\" data-end=\"1001\">According to the company, the new line will enable the manufacture of glulam with zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs), targeting projects with stricter environmental and indoor air quality requirements.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1319\">The laminating system will be supplied by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ledinek Engineering<\/span><\/span>, while CNC processing will be handled by a K2i system from <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Hundegger<\/span><\/span>. Installation and commissioning are scheduled to begin later in 2026, with certification of the new production line expected in early 2027.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1642\">Project partners include <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Leckie Studio<\/span><\/span> as architect, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Fast + Epp<\/span><\/span> as engineer and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">HR Pacific<\/span><\/span> as general contractor.
