While construction-led consumption in Europe has weakened, India\u2019s panel sector remains buoyed by urbanisation, rising incomes and a steady shift away from solid wood towards engineered alternatives.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"1010\">The additional line, expected to come on stream in 2028, will raise output at a time when domestic demand is still growing across housing, commercial fit-outs and modular furniture. MDF, once a secondary product, is increasingly central to these segments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1012\" data-end=\"1224\">Greenply is not alone. Across India, panel producers are adding capacity, encouraged by steady consumption and a gradual retreat of imports. The market is becoming more local, more organised and more competitive.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1226\" data-end=\"1494\">That creates a familiar tension. Expansion is easiest when demand is strong; it becomes riskier when everyone expands at once. If consumption keeps pace, new capacity will be absorbed.
