Vida<\/span><\/span>, owned by Canadian Canfor<\/span><\/span>, reported a positive result for 2025 despite a more difficult market in the second half of the year, according to the company.<\/p>\n

The year started well for both the sawmill industry and Vida, but conditions shifted during the summer, the company said. Weaker construction activity reduced demand for lumber, putting pressure on prices.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the raw material market tightened. According to Vida, uncertainty among forest owners limited log supply, while prices remained historically high, widening the gap between raw material costs and finished product prices.<\/p>\n

The company also noted that the stronger Swedish krona added pressure on exports.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Vida reported an operating profit of SEK 9.9 million (\u2248 EUR 0.86 million) for the full year.<\/p>\n

Turnover increased to SEK 12.96 billion (\u2248 EUR 1.13 billion) in 2025, compared with SEK 11.53 billion (\u2248 EUR 1.00 billion) in 2024. EBITDA declined to SEK 288.3 million (\u2248 EUR 25.1 million) from SEK 949.4 million (\u2248 EUR 82.6 million), while operating profit fell from SEK 699.5 million (\u2248 EUR 60.9 million) to SEK 9.9 million (\u2248 EUR 0.86 million).<\/p>\n

According to CEO Karl-Johan L\u00f6wenadler, the company relied on its global delivery network to maintain sales, including the addition of two new warehouses in Japan during the year.<\/p>\n

Vida said it introduced cost-saving measures in the second half of the year to adjust to weaker market conditions.<\/p>\n

The company said the sawmill sector is now in a weaker position than in previous years, with profitability affected by economic conditions, exchange rates and global uncertainty.<\/p>\n

According to Vida, log prices have been at high levels but are adjusting, and lower profitability across the sector is expected to keep wood product supply lower in 2026 compared with 2025.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
