Moelven Industrier ASA reported a sharp deterioration in results for 2025, as weak construction activity, high raw material costs and restructuring measures weighed on performance.<\/p>\n
The group posted revenues of SEK 14.4bn (\u20ac1.25bn) and an operating loss of SEK 1.09bn (\u20ac95m), compared with a loss of SEK 199m (\u20ac17m) on revenues of SEK 12.9bn (\u20ac1.12bn) in 2024.<\/p>\n
The result was affected by structural measures, including the closure of two sawmills and provisions linked to an ongoing legal dispute, which together accounted for SEK 255m (\u20ac22m) of the operating loss.<\/p>\n
Margins came under pressure throughout the year as construction activity remained at historically low levels. Project delays reduced capacity utilisation across several business units, while high log prices and elevated cost levels further eroded profitability. Currency effects also weighed on export-oriented operations in Sweden.<\/p>\n
The company used 2025 to implement cost-cutting and efficiency measures across the group. Several restructuring steps were taken, including the decision to close the Moelven L\u00f8ten and Moelven Notn\u00e4s Ransby sawmills. Workforce reductions followed, with around 360 fewer employees at the start of 2026 compared with a year earlier.<\/p>\n
Operationally, several units reported improvements despite the weak market environment. Cost and efficiency programmes were rolled out across the group and remain ongoing, aimed at strengthening competitiveness under lower demand conditions.<\/p>\n
Despite the weak results, some improvement has been seen at the start of 2026. Activity in the project market has picked up, and order books have strengthened, particularly in the building module segment in Norway and Sweden.<\/p>\n
Production has been increased again at certain units, including Byggmodul AB, while previously laid-off workers at Moelven Byggmodul AS have been brought back into operation.<\/p>\n
