Prices for lumber used in pallets and packaging in Germany continued to rise in February, while plywood prices declined and OSB showed only limited movement.<\/p>\n

The HPE wood price index, compiled monthly by the German Association for Wood Packaging, Pallets and Export Packaging (HPE) in cooperation with the University of Bonn, tracks purchasing prices for lumber and wood-based panels used in pallets, crates and export packaging.<\/p>\n

Solid wood for pallets recorded the strongest increase. The index rose to 101.90 (January 2026 = 100), up 1.9% from the previous month. Compared with a year earlier, prices remained 14.7% higher. The underlying index level reached 452.63, continuing the upward trend seen since mid-2025.<\/p>\n

Solid wood for packaging followed a similar path. The index increased to 101.62 in February, a monthly rise of 1.6%, and stood 14.0% above the level of a year earlier.<\/p>\n

Plywood prices moved in the opposite direction. The index stood at 99.97 in February, unchanged from January but down 2.7% year-on-year, following a decline at the start of the year.<\/p>\n

OSB prices showed only limited movement. The index rose slightly to 100.39, up 0.4% from the previous month, while remaining 17.2% higher than a year earlier.<\/p>\n
