The material, typically sold as kiln-dried structural lumber in strength classes such as C24 and in dimensions around 38\u201350 mm thickness and 100\u2013150 mm width, is widely used in residential construction and renovation projects.<\/p>\n
In Germania<\/strong>, prices for spruce structural lumber edged higher during the month. Market offers for spruce (44\u201350 \u00d7 150 mm) averaged around \u20ac325\/m\u00b3<\/strong> in February, compared with roughly \u20ac315\/m\u00b3<\/strong> in January, an increase of 3.2%<\/strong>. Other spruce grades were largely unchanged, reflecting balanced supply conditions and cautious purchasing by distributors.<\/p>\n The UK market<\/strong> showed more varied movements. Spruce construction lumber prices slipped slightly to about \u00a3295\/m\u00b3<\/strong> in February, down from \u00a3300\/m\u00b3<\/strong> in January, representing a decline of 1.7%<\/strong>. Pine products moved in the opposite direction. American pine (50 \u00d7 150 mm) averaged \u00a3305\/m\u00b3<\/strong>, up 2.4% month-on-month<\/strong>, while V-grade pine (38 \u00d7 150 mm) rose 1.7%<\/strong> to around \u00a3298\/m\u00b3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In France and the Benelux countries<\/strong>, prices were broadly unchanged. Spruce lumber (63 \u00d7 150 mm) was assessed near \u20ac320\/m\u00b3<\/strong>, a marginal decrease of 0.8%<\/strong> from January levels, while most other softwood categories traded within narrow ranges.<\/p>\n Nordic exporters reported largely stable quotations for standard spruce construction lumber in February. Swedish and Finnish producers indicated prices around \u20ac340\u2013350 per cubic metre<\/strong>, broadly unchanged from January, as sawmills continued to adjust output in response to subdued order books.<\/p>\n Across Europe, buyers remain cautious following the strong purchasing wave seen in the spring of 2025. At that time, expectations of stronger summer demand led to heavier buying, but the anticipated consumption failed to materialise, leaving some distributors with elevated inventories.
