<\/span>Mets\u00e4 Fibre, part of Mets\u00e4 Group, will halt production at its Joutseno pulp mill from 31 March 2026 as the company adjusts output to the current market situation.<\/p>\n
The shutdown reflects uncertainty in Asian pulp markets, which remain a key destination for Nordic producers. According to the company, production will remain suspended until market conditions improve.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are monitoring the market situation, and the decision to restart production will be made based on it,\u201d Mets\u00e4 said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The Joutseno pulp mill, located in Finland, has the capacity to produce 690,000 tonnes per year of softwood pulp. The pulp is used in the production of paperboard, tissue, printing papers and specialty products.<\/p>\n
This is the second market-related shutdown at the Joutseno mill within the past nine months, indicating continued volatility in the pulp market.<\/p>\n
Mets\u00e4 Fibre is one of the main business areas of Mets\u00e4 Group and produces pulp and other wood-based bioproducts. The company operates four pulp mills and four sawmills in Finland, supplying global markets.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
