The assessment was presented during the federation’s January Board of Directors meeting held alongside DOMOTEX 2026 in Hanover.

Based on preliminary estimates discussed with representatives from member countries, overall parquet consumption in Europe in 2025 is expected to remain broadly unchanged compared with 2024. FEP cautioned that these figures are provisional and may be adjusted once full national data becomes available. The final consumption statistics will be officially presented in June at the FEP General Assembly & Parquet Congress in Madrid.

The sector has been emerging from a prolonged downturn. Following a sharp contraction in 2023, parquet consumption bottomed out in 2024, when the market recorded only a marginal additional decline. In 2025, activity appeared to stabilise, albeit at a historically low level. The year began with relatively encouraging momentum, but demand weakened again after the summer months. Cost pressures, particularly for timber and energy, remained elevated throughout the year.

FEP noted that the current market environment continues to suffer from limited visibility, making short-term trend forecasting difficult. Nevertheless, the industry expects some support from early signs of improvement in construction activity. Additional relief may come from the European Commission’s recent decision to postpone and simplify the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which has been a source of uncertainty for parquet manufacturers and distributors.

The federation also pointed to the ongoing impact of definitive anti-dumping measures on multilayer wood flooring imports from China, which were introduced in mid-July 2025. While these measures are expected to continue providing support to European producers, their effectiveness may be diminishing. FEP highlighted that prices of Chinese imports have fallen below pre-investigation levels and that parquet shipments from several other countries — previously only minor suppliers to the EU — have been increasing.

According to FEP, these developments could weaken the intended protective effect of the trade measures. The federation is therefore closely monitoring import trends and is considering raising the issue with the European Commission, potentially requesting further assessment through new investigations.

FEP General Assembly & Parquet Congress 2026

FEP’s 70th General Assembly and 50th Parquet Congress will take place on 11–12 June 2026 in Madrid, Spain. The federation expects to welcome its members, international guests and press representatives to discuss key market, regulatory and trade topics shaping the European parquet sector during its annual meeting.

The European parquet market showed signs of stabilisation in 2025 after hitting its lowest level a year earlier, according to FEP – European Parquet Federation.
