Price negotiations continued to focus on specification, drying, grading and delivery terms, with little movement at the headline level.

For spruce construction lumber, prices for benchmark dimensions used in residential and commercial building remained the main reference point for the market. Standard structural dimensions such as 44–50×150 mm were typically traded in the range of €310–325/m³, depending on grade, certification and contract structure. Kiln-dried and strength-graded material continued to achieve a premium over fresh sawn products, with realised prices for selected planed or certified assortments reaching €330/m³ in limited cases.

Broader ranges for structural spruce lumber in Germany were generally reported between €300 and €330/m³, with lower prices applying to simpler specifications and higher levels linked to consistent volumes or long-term supply agreements. Spot business tended to clear toward the middle of this range.

Pine lumber was priced below spruce, reflecting species preference and end-use patterns. Structural pine lumber was commonly traded at €280–300/m³, while mixed or lower structural grades were reported closer to €260–280/m³, depending on moisture content and sorting. In several cases, pine required additional price flexibility to remain competitive against alternative Central and Northern European supply.

For non-structural softwood lumber, including fresh sawn and mixed-species material used for packaging, pallets or industrial applications, price levels were notably lower. Fresh sawn softwood lumber was commonly offered around €260/m³, with lower-grade or less uniform assortments trading in a range of €240–270/m³. These products were typically sold without strength grading and with limited processing.

Planed softwood lumber and selected joinery or appearance grades continued to trade above basic construction material, with prices frequently reported in the €330–360/m³ range depending on finish and dimensions, although volumes in these categories remained more limited.

Germany softwood lumber prices (January 2026)

Product category

Typical price level

Unit

Spruce construction lumber, standard dimensions

310–325

€/m³

Spruce construction lumber, broader range

300–330

€/m³

Spruce construction lumber, planed / selected

325–340

€/m³

Pine construction lumber

280–300

€/m³

Pine lower structural grades

260–280

€/m³

Fresh sawn softwood lumber (mixed species)

~260

€/m³

Lower-grade / industrial softwood lumber

240–270

€/m³

Planed softwood lumber / higher finish

330–360

€/m³

Softwood lumber prices in Germany remained broadly stable at the beginning of 2026, with most transactions for standard construction grades concluded at levels close to those seen in the final months of 2025.
