Estonia\u2019s timber market closed December 2025 with limited month-to-month movement in most assortments, while year-on-year trends remained clearly divergent between sawlogs and fiber-linked products.<\/p>\n

In softwood sawlogs, prices stayed firmly above last year\u2019s levels. Pine sawlogs ended December at \u20ac107.6\/m\u00b3, up 19.2% year on year, while spruce sawlogs reached \u20ac109.8\/m\u00b3, representing a 21.7% annual increase. Smaller-diameter assortments also showed solid annual gains, with pine small sawlogs up 12.8% y\/y and spruce small sawlogs 13.8% higher than in December 2024. These figures underline that demand for higher-quality softwood logs has remained resilient through 2025, despite weakness elsewhere in the value chain.<\/p>\n

In hardwood sawlogs, the picture was more mixed. Aspen sawlogs stood out, finishing the year 6.9% higher than a year earlier, after a volatile price pattern in recent months. Black alder sawlogs also posted a positive annual change of 4.5%, while grey alder slipped slightly, down 2.2% y\/y. Birch assortments moved in the opposite direction: birch sawlogs were 6.3% lower than a year earlier, while birch veneer logs declined 6.1% y\/y and birch small sawlogs recorded the steepest annual drop at \u201312.7%. Thinly traded species showed contrasting annual trends, with ash sawlogs up 3.8% y\/y and oak sawlogs down 7.8% y\/y, highlighting the strong role of quality and buyer specificity in these markets.<\/p>\n

In pulpwood, annual declines were pronounced across all species, reflecting sustained pressure from fiber markets. Spruce pulpwood fell 17.8% year on year, closely followed by pine pulpwood, down 17.4%. Birch pulpwood declined 11.9% y\/y, while aspen pulpwood dropped 13.4%. Despite some short-term increases late in the year, pulpwood prices remained well below December 2024 levels, confirming a structurally weaker market for fiber assortments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
