Logging in Sweden in 2025 is expected to increase modestly compared with last year, according to a forecast from the Swedish Forest Agency. The authority estimates that gross felling\u2014the total volume of felled trees, including what remains in the forest\u2014will reach approximately 87.6 million cubic meters. This represents an increase of 0.5 million cubic meters, or 0.6 percent, compared with 2024.<\/p>\n
The Swedish Forest Agency explains that the increase reflects changes in wood use and supply within the industry. While felling for sawn timber is projected to decrease by 0.1 million cubic meters, total sawn timber production in Swedish mills is expected to remain at 2024 levels. The decline in domestic felling is largely offset by higher imports of sawn timber, reducing the need for additional harvesting at home.<\/p>\n
In contrast, pulpwood harvesting is forecast to rise by around 0.6 million cubic meters, even though pulp production in the industry is expected to fall by about two percent. The increase in pulpwood felling is largely due to reduced imports, which will lead to a buildup of pulpwood stocks throughout the year.<\/p>\n
