However, Mets\u00e4 Group says it will continue to trade timber at full capacity this autumn.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"241\" data-end=\"420\">\"There are no restrictions on wood procurement. We buy wood in full and all stands are interested,\" says Juho Rantala, Director of Wood Trade and Forest Services at Mets\u00e4 Group.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"504\" data-end=\"729\">Although the price of wood has fallen from its peak during the autumn, Rantala points out that it is at least at a reasonable level when looking at the wood price curves over a longer period, starting from the corona years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"915\"><strong>FSC-certified wood is of interest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"915\">According to Rantala, Mets\u00e4 Group is striving to increase the use of FSC-certified wood. The pressure comes primarily from the end-product market.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"1031\">Therefore, the company is increasing financial incentives for forest owners to participate in FSC certification.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"1105\">In forestry, things need to be looked at from a long-term perspective.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1107\" data-end=\"1261\">\"Investments and efforts are needed in responsible forest management, in ensuring that Finnish forestry is generally accepted in society,\" says Rantala.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1263\" data-end=\"1376\">Mets\u00e4 Group has more than fivefold increased the sales of its forest management services since the early 2000s.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1378\" data-end=\"1584\">About a third of forest owners choose the Mets\u00e4 Group Plus management model, which takes into account the natural values of the forest more closely than required by legislation or certification systems.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1586\" data-end=\"1741\">The loss of income caused by this is compensated with an additional bonus, which the forest owner can use in connection with the next timber transaction.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1743\" data-end=\"1952\">\"Of course, we hope that in the long run we will be able to get additional euros from these activities in the value chain, which will flow through the value chain and through it also reach the forest owner.\"<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1954\" data-end=\"2144\"><strong>Profit sharing for members<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1954\" data-end=\"2144\">Unlike other large forest companies, Mets\u00e4 Group operates on a cooperative basis. Approximately 90,000 Finnish forest owners belong to Mets\u00e4liitto Cooperative.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2146\" data-end=\"2387\">Last year, the company paid almost 700 million euros in timber trade fees, in addition to which it distributed approximately one hundred million euros in surplus to its members, the interest income from investments made in the cooperative.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2389\" data-end=\"2492\">\"The policy in the distribution of profits has been to aim to increase the pot evenly,\" says Rantala.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2494\" data-end=\"2596\">This has been done despite the fact that Mets\u00e4 Group's results have fluctuated with economic cycles.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2598\" data-end=\"2873\">\"The results for the first half of the year have been, to put it mildly, poor.
