To strengthen its competitiveness, Billerud has decided to introduce a cost-saving program. The goal is to achieve annual savings of SEK 800 million (\u20ac73.1 million) and the cost savings will affect over 600 positions.<\/p>\n

According to Billerud, it is due to the weakened market situation in Europe, which has also led to a negative profit trend, that Billerud has decided to introduce the cost-saving program. The goal is to achieve annual savings of SEK 800 million (\u20ac73.1 million), and the program is expected to have a noticeable effect from the first quarter of 2026 and reach full effect by the end of 2026.<\/p>\n

According to Billerud, the measures being implemented will focus on reducing fixed costs through strict cost prioritization, more efficient working methods and staff reductions across all functions and locations in Billerud's Europe Region and Group functions. This means a potential reduction of up to 650 positions.<\/p>\n

''In this challenging market situation for the European paper and packaging industry, it is crucial that we maintain our focus and accelerate progress in the areas we can influence. With this program, we are taking proactive measures to further reduce our cost base and strengthen Billerud's long-term competitiveness and profitability,'' says Ivar Vatne, President and CEO of Billerud, in a press release.<\/p>\n

According to Billerud, restructuring costs of SEK 350 million (\u20ac31.9 million) related to the cost-savings program will affect the result for the third quarter of 2025.
