The Austrian Pfeifer Group, which acquired Finnish wood processing company P\u00f6lky Oy in January 2023, has moved forward with the integration of the business, focusing on operational efficiency, market expansion, and administrative restructuring.<\/p>\n
As part of the integration, P\u00f6lky\u2019s management has been reorganized. Alexander Kainer, appointed CEO of P\u00f6lky Oy, will oversee the purchase of raw wood, production, and logistics. Andreas Schierle has assumed the role of CFO, responsible for financial management, control, human resources, and IT. The distribution company Pfeifer Timber GmbH has also commenced operations in Finland to support sales, customer service, and order processing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe integration of P\u00f6lky will sustainably strengthen the Pfeifer Group\u2014both in terms of supply security and strategic market position,\u201d Kainer said. \u201cBy combining our strengths, top products, and strong team, we are in an excellent position to leverage opportunities in the global timber market.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over the past two years, Pfeifer has invested in key Finnish sites, including the Kajaani sawmill, where annual production capacity has reached 450,000 cubic meters of sawn timber, making it one of Finland\u2019s most modern facilities. Drying capacity at the Taivalkoski mill has been expanded, and SAP systems have been implemented to improve operational efficiency across the Finnish operations.<\/p>\n
Internationally, demand for Pfeifer products has exceeded expectations in Japan, while a dedicated sales branch has opened in the United Kingdom. Regular deliveries to the United States are planned to begin this autumn.<\/p>\n
Production at P\u00f6lky\u2019s Taivalkoski, Kuusamo, and Kitka mills has remained steady, while Kajaani resumed operations after maintenance with promising results. The integration aims to enhance supply reliability, streamline administration, and support growth in existing and new markets.<\/p>\n
Pfeifer Group, a third-generation family-owned company headquartered in Imst, Austria, operates 13 locations across Europe and employs around 2,600 people.
