In Stora Enso\u2019s second-quarter results, net sales increased year-on-year, but results remained subdued due to challenges in several end-product markets. The market remains volatile, and the consumption outlook is weak. Continuous cost increases are weighing on profitability.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"1079\">According to <strong data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"710\">Tuomas Tiilikainen, Director of Stora Enso\u2019s Private Forests Wood Trade<\/strong>, the downturn in global trade is also reflected in the Finnish wood market. During the summer, market prices began to decline, and peak prices have clearly come down. However, the price of wood remains at a very high level. In the wood trade, market participants must prepare for instability and plan purchases carefully. Current harvesting conditions are favorable.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1081\" data-end=\"1264\">\n<p data-start=\"1083\" data-end=\"1264\">\u201cIn the long term, Stora Enso seeks to add value to profitability by producing more highly processed products and using valuable wood raw materials efficiently,\u201d Tiilikainen said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1266\" data-end=\"1618\">Tiilikainen also notes that Stora Enso\u2019s Oulu region is increasingly significant as a wood consumer due to the needs of its four sawmills and board mill. Investments and acquisitions in the region have strengthened Stora Enso\u2019s presence as a wood supplier throughout Finland, including coastal areas where the company was previously less established.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1620\" data-end=\"1647\"><strong>Wood prices in Finland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1648\" data-end=\"1870\">Up-to-date prices are available through the <strong data-start=\"1692\" data-end=\"1731\">Finnish Forest Industry Association<\/strong>, covering approximately 85% of wood purchases from private forests over the past four weeks.
