Import value increased by 14% to US$829 million in the first five months year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"463\" data-end=\"697\">While the rebound is significant, import quantity in the 12 months to May 2025, at around 4 million m\u00b3, is still some way below the annual average import of 4.25 million m\u00b3 in the years immediately before the COVID pandemic.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"699\" data-end=\"938\">European plywood imports in the first five months of this year were likely boosted by ongoing anti-dumping investigations in the EU, which may have encouraged stockpiling of the affected products in advance of anticipated levy increases.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"940\" data-end=\"956\">These include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"1171\">\n<li data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"1075\">\n<p data-start=\"959\" data-end=\"1075\">Chinese hardwood plywood, for which the EU introduced provisional duties of up to 62.4% from 11 June 2025.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1171\">\n<p data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1171\">Brazilian softwood plywood, for which EU anti-dumping investigations are still ongoing.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1173\" data-end=\"1591\">In terms of share of total plywood imports in the EU+UK region, Brazilian softwood plywood has experienced the biggest gain this year, accounting for 37% of imports in the first five months compared to 33% in the same period last year. The share of Chinese temperate hardwood plywood in total plywood imports fell from 36% in the first five months of 2024 to 31% in the same period this year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1593\" data-end=\"1782\">Nevertheless, Chinese hardwood plywood still retained a large part of the gains in the European market made following the imposition of EU and UK sanctions on Russian plywood in 2022.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":50599,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5204,4715],"tags":[3299,3248,3256],"class_list":["post-96747","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-daily-news","category-market-analysis","tag-europe","tag-imports","tag-plywood","topic-statistics","topic-wood-products","topic-wood-based-panels","area-china","area-europe","area-global","area-south-america"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 -
