<\/span>Representatives from the timber sector have been reacting to the news that Kingspan Timber Solutions, a prominent name in timber construction, is set to close its operations by the end of the year.<\/p>\n

The company, with a history spanning over 60 years, specializes in manufacturing timber frame and Structurally Insulated Panel (SIPs) building systems, including its well-known TEK branded system. Kingspan Timber Solutions, based in Great Gransden, Cambridgeshire, has long been regarded as a leader in the field, responsible for building innovative homes, Passivhaus developments, and schools.<\/p>\n

Among its notable projects was the Potton Lighthouse in 2007, which was a landmark net-zero carbon show home. The Potton self-build business, acquired in 2006, celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023. The company was also a key player in the \u00a3250 million Center Parcs Woburn Forest site, where it manufactured 625 lodges.<\/p>\n

In a recent statement, the company confirmed the difficult decision to close. \"It is with a heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to announce the closure of Kingspan Timber Solutions Ltd, and the cessation of all business operations. We are currently working hard to fulfil all outstanding orders, with our final day of operations being December 19, 2025.\"<\/p>\n

The statement also expressed gratitude to its customers and partners, saying, \"We are deeply grateful to our valued customers and partners who have supported us over the years, it has been a privilege working with you.\"<\/p>\n

The manufacturing site in Great Gransden will cease operations. Over the past five years, the company only reported a profit in 2021. Its most recent financial accounts for the year ending December 31, 2023, show a pre-tax loss of \u00a31 million on revenues of \u00a313.1 million, a drop from \u00a319.9 million in 2022. The business had a pre-tax loss of \u00a3304,000 in 2022 and a pre-tax profit of \u00a3703,000 in 2021.
