<\/span>Finnish wood products company Koskisen Oyj reported a satisfactory second quarter, with strong performance in its sawmill segment.<\/p>\n

Revenue for the quarter rose to \u20ac89.7 million, up from \u20ac77.8 million a year earlier. Operating profit reached \u20ac7 million and net profit \u20ac5 million, each up by \u20ac0.1 million. The improvement was driven mainly by enhanced profitability in the sawmill operations.<\/p>\n

The recent Iisvesi Forest business acquisition, completed in early June, had minimal impact on Q2 revenue and profitability.<\/p>\n

While the panel segment saw a slight drop in profitability due to higher raw material costs, overall margins remained moderate. Panel prices held steady. Notably, the company is piloting particleboard production using retired pallets, demonstrating its focus on resource efficiency and innovation.<\/p>\n

CEO Jukka Pahta noted that wood procurement proceeded as planned, and inventories remained at healthy levels.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe price of raw wood in inventory remains high, but by the end of the quarter, it appeared that the peak price had been reached, with procurement costs beginning a slight decline,\u201d Pahta said.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Koskisen anticipates a continuing volatile operating environment. The company sees uncertainty in consumer-driven demand due to fluctuating U.S. trade policies, though exposure to U.S. markets is limited.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecovery in construction is still awaited. Even though demand-stimulating measures have been taken in Europe, their effect remains limited,\u201d Pahta added.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
