<\/span>Twenty-five employees at Edanes\u00e5gen, located outside Arvika in V\u00e4rmland, have been given redundancy notices, meaning that a quarter of the workforce may be laid off.<\/p>\n

The decision was made to address a challenging market situation, Moelven said in a press release. The biggest change will take place at the sawmill, where production will be halved and staffing will shift from two shifts to one shift starting in September.<\/p>\n

The approximately 100 employees at Edanes\u00e5gen were informed on Monday, 11 August.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is of course regrettable to have to inform our skilled employees of this redundancy notice. Even though today is a tough day, we are doing what is necessary to remain competitive and to drive Moelven Edanes\u00e5gen forward,\u201d said Magnus Ingves, acting CEO of Moelven Edanes\u00e5gen.<\/p>\n

In recent years, the unit has undergone what Moelven calls a historic development boost to create an efficient industry capable of handling larger volumes.<\/p>\n

Moelven states that the redundancy is seen as a temporary measure before operations can run at full capacity at the site.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the new facilities, we have the conditions to produce both more and better than before, but in the market situation we are in now, we must ensure that we do not produce larger volumes than are in demand, while focusing on developing our internal processes.
