Mets\u00e4 Group has launched a cost savings and performance improvement program targeting annual savings of approximately \u20ac300 million<\/span>, to be implemented in stages starting in 2026. The move comes in response to weak long-term profitability and an uncertain market outlook. The planning phase is expected to conclude by the end of the current quarter.<\/p>\n

The program will focus on reducing procurement and logistics costs, optimizing the wood supply chain, and lowering fixed costs. Mets\u00e4 Group emphasized that it does not plan to close production facilities, either temporarily or permanently.<\/p>\n

Each business area within the group will work to improve results. Mets\u00e4 Board, the group\u2019s paperboard division, cited lower demand due to intensified competition and cautious consumer spending, alongside high raw material costs and a weak pulp market.<\/p>\n

Mets\u00e4 Board aims to grow in Europe while maintaining and expanding its strong position in the U.S. The company\u2019s cost and profitability program seeks to boost annual EBITDA by \u20ac200 million, split evenly between cost reductions and operational improvements. Implementation begins immediately.<\/p>\n
