The company posted a net loss of $24 million, or $0.38 per diluted share, for the quarter ended June 27.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"419\" data-end=\"678\">Cash and short-term investments stood at $646 million. Capital expenditures were $78 million. Dividends paid amounted to $25 million ($0.32 per share). The company repurchased 448,001 shares for $33 million and declared a $0.32 per share dividend for Q3 2025.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"680\" data-end=\"940\">President and CEO Sean McLaren said demand for wood-based building products slowed in Q2 as spring building activity fell short of expectations. The North American engineered wood products segment saw further weakening due to slower U.S. new home construction.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"942\" data-end=\"1363\">West Fraser lowered its 2025 shipment guidance for spruce-pine-fir to 2.6\u20132.8 billion board feet from 2.7\u20132.9 billion and southern yellow pine to 2.4\u20132.6 billion board feet from 2.5\u20132.7 billion. North America OSB shipment guidance was cut to 6.3\u20136.5 billion square feet (3\/8-inch basis) from 6.5\u20136.8 billion square feet. Europe OSB shipment guidance remains at 1.0\u20131.25 billion square feet amid macroeconomic uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1365\" data-end=\"1577\">The global pulp market is disrupted by U.S. tariffs. West Fraser expects softness in northern bleached softwood kraft prices near to medium term and will conduct a two-week maintenance outage at its Cariboo mill.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1579\" data-end=\"1752\">Input costs for resins, chemicals, and contract labour remained stable.
