<\/span>Vida AB, a subsidiary of Canfor Corporation, is expanding its production capacity by acquiring AB Karl Hedin S\u00e5gverk in Central Sweden for 1.15 billion SEK (\u20ac105 million), including 274 million SEK (\u20ac25 million) in working capital. The purchase agreement was announced on July 22, 2025.<\/p>\n

The acquisition of AB Karl Hedin S\u00e5gverk, which operates three sawmills in Central Sweden, will add approximately 230 million board feet (around 550,000 cubic meters) of annual production capacity to Vida. After completion, Vida\u2019s total annual production capacity will reach approximately 2.1 billion board feet (about 5 million m\u00b3).<\/p>\n

AB Karl Hedin S\u00e5gverk\u2019s sawmills are strategically located to access exceptionally high-quality timber, complementing Vida\u2019s existing portfolio of high-value lumber and engineered wood products.<\/p>\n

Vida expects to realize annual cost synergies of roughly 105 million SEK (\u20ac9.5 million) within three years by aligning marketing programs and optimizing log procurement and operational practices.<\/p>\n

Susan Yurkovich, president and CEO of Canfor, commented:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis strategic acquisition will strengthen Vida\u2019s operating platform and further diversify its presence in Central Sweden. The operations bring access to premium timber resources, enhancing Vida\u2019s ability to deliver high-value products.\u201d<\/p>\n

The transaction is primarily financed through cash on hand and new equity from minority Vida AB shareholders. Closing is expected in the coming months, pending customary conditions and regulatory approvals.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
