<\/span>The Austrian sawmill industry continues to show solid demand for spruce roundwood, with sufficient storage capacity and quick turnover of available assortments. Prices have remained stable in most federal states. The storms in recent weeks caused only limited and very localized storm damage. Logging and transport capacity remain sufficient. Demand for larch continues to exceed supply, and prices remain at a high and stable level.<\/p>\n

Austria\u2019s paper, pulp and panelboard industries remain well stocked with coniferous industrial roundwood. In most cases, supply and demand are balanced, with transport and takeover proceeding promptly. Red beech pulpwood continues to show regional differences: demand remains strong in southern Austria, while purchasing in the north remains restricted. Prices are stable.<\/p>\n

The energy wood market remains tight, and marketing is difficult outside of long-term contracts. Prices are stable.
Despite locally heavy rainfall in recent weeks, Austria still shows a 12% precipitation deficit compared to the 1961\u20131990 reference period, with levels up to 40% below normal in some regions. Forest hygiene remains a priority. Due to rainy weather, infestation diagnosis is more difficult as bore dust is washed away. Forest owners are advised to check for single windthrows and broken crowns and to remove suitable breeding material from the forest as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n
