<\/span>Norra Skog is investing SEK 100 million (EUR 8.7 million) in an upgrade of its sawmill in Hissmofors, operated by the association\u2019s industrial branch, Norra Timber. The investment aims to increase production capacity by 10,000 cubic metres of sawn goods annually.<\/p>\n

The decision, approved by the association\u2019s board, includes the installation of new equipment downstream from the saw line. Work is scheduled to begin this summer, with completion expected in autumn 2026.<\/p>\n

According to Norra Skog, the project is part of a broader strategy to modernise and streamline its industrial operations, reinforcing the competitiveness of its member-owned forestry model.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis investment in Hissmofors is another step in our strategy to run efficient, cutting-edge industrial facilities,\u201d said Henrik J\u00f6nsson, Industry Manager at Norra Skog. \u201cAt a time when others are holding back, we see strong value in continuing to invest in our industry \u2014 for the benefit of all our members.\u201d<\/p>\n

The initiative is the first of two planned steps for upgrading the Hissmofors site. The second phase is currently under evaluation, with a decision expected in autumn 2026.<\/p>\n

Sawmill manager Thomas Haiduga welcomed the investment, saying it provides long-term stability for the local workforce. \u201cWe are pleased to be trusted with continuing development at Hissmofors. This secures jobs and confirms Norra Skog\u2019s confidence in our team here in J\u00e4mtland,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The investment also supports the association\u2019s regional strategy. \u201cWe\u2019ve previously made significant investments in our facilities in K\u00e5ge and S\u00e4var. This latest decision helps balance our industrial presence geographically and strengthens our market position,\u201d J\u00f6nsson added.<\/p>\n

Patrik Jonsson, Head of Forest & Wood at Norra Skog, described the project as part of a long-term effort to support family forestry across the association\u2019s territory. \u201cWith modern and efficient operations, we enhance our competitiveness.
