Following a peak year in 2022 with revenues exceeding \u20ac820 million, Biesse has experienced a significant downturn. Since October 2024, staff have been working reduced hours under contratti di solidariet\u00e0<\/em>, a temporary job security scheme set to end in late June. The company is currently in talks with unions to extend these agreements for another three months, the maximum extension allowed under current legislation.<\/p>\n

Further reductions in working hours have not been ruled out, as new orders remain sluggish. Sources within the sector say several sawmill clients have delayed investments in new machinery amid broader market caution.<\/p>\n

Leadership change: Selci takes full control<\/strong><\/p>\n

The company's board has accepted the resignation of CEO Massimo Potenza. Executive authority now rests with Roberto Selci, the current Chairman, who is assuming full CEO duties. The move is aimed at preserving strategic direction and stability.<\/p>\n

Potenza had led a sweeping internal reorganisation during his tenure, rolling out a \u201cOne Company\u201d model to improve integration and streamline operations across the group. The model helped strengthen Biesse\u2019s standing in the highly competitive woodworking machinery segment.<\/p>\n

Setback at Hannover fair adds to concerns<\/strong><\/p>\n

Expectations of a market rebound were dented after Biesse\u2019s underwhelming showing at the Ligna trade fair. Only one machine was presented, and industry feedback was largely negative. Disappointed by the outcome, the company has scaled back its production plans.<\/p>\n

Instead of the initially planned two-week summer break, Biesse is expected to extend the factory shutdown to three weeks due to a weak order backlog, affecting delivery schedules to sawmills and wood-processing clients in several key markets.<\/p>\n

The company is preparing for a difficult mid-year earnings report. Meanwhile, CEO Roberto Selci must also address operational gaps, including rebuilding the service network after internal theft was uncovered at one of the company\u2019s logistics centres. Investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
