Karl Hedin has sold his majority stake in a sawmill located in southeastern Estonia, near the town of V\u00f5ru. The new owner is Combiwood Group, an Estonian wood industry conglomerate that operates several production facilities across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to have found a new owner in Combiwood. Their way of working fits well with Toftan\u2019s culture and operations. With this acquisition, Combiwood gains access to one of Estonia\u2019s most modern sawmills, which provides a strong foundation for continued development. Together, the companies will be able to strengthen their customer offering and continue to grow, both in existing and new markets,\u201d said Karl Hedin in a press release.<\/p>\n

The deal involves the purchase of 100 percent of the shares in Toftan and is subject to approval by the Estonian Competition Authority.<\/p>\n

A few months ago, Karl Hedin decided to put Toftan up for sale. The new owner, Combiwood Group, brings together 12 companies within the Estonian wood industry and has worked in cooperation with Toftan for 15 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a group, we strongly believe in maximizing the value of wood from start to finish here in Estonia. Toftan is a well-functioning company we know well, and we\u2019re not planning any major changes,\u201d said Janek Antipin, Chairman of the Board at Combiwood Group.<\/p>\n

Combiwood is one of Estonia's leading wood groups with approximately 900 employees and an annual turnover of approximately EUR 210 million. The group operates several wood processing plants throughout Estonia. The acquisition of AS Toftan is well in line with Combiwood's current portfolio. The transaction is expected to strengthen the company's long-term growth and its continued investments in sustainable wood processing.
