<\/span>In 2024, the \u201cLatvijas Finieris\u201d concern sold a record volume of 309 thousand cubic meters of plywood production (in 2023 \u2013 296.6). This is the highest result in the company\u2019s history, which confirms the stable demand for birch plywood produced in the world, the company says.
\nThe group\u2019s turnover in 2024 reached 409.0 million. EUR (in 2023 \u2013 404.8). Net profit was 57 million EUR (in 2023 \u2013 55.6). In turn, the group\u2019s EBITDA reached 82.2 million EUR (in 2023 \u2013 78).<\/p>\n

92% of birch plywood products were sold in 56 export countries outside Latvia. This was ensured by 12 product development and marketing companies under the brand name \"Riga Wood\".<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation in the plywood markets was difficult last year. However, under such circumstances, \u201cLatvijas Finieris\u201d was able not only to maintain its market share, but even to increase it. This is the result of the long-term policy of the owners \u2013 to purposefully invest in the company\u2019s growth, creating the company\u2019s overall reputation as a reliable partner. Relationships with customers and mutual trust ensured stable demand, which the production units were able to meet in a timely manner. The demand for thin and high-quality birch plywood almost exceeded production capabilities, but the work carried out in production efficiency, work organization and investments in production modernization significantly improved efficiency and performance,\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/i>\u00a0says J\u0101nis Ciems, Chairman of the Board of AS \u201cLatvijas Finieris\u201d.<\/p>\n

In total, the group paid EUR 40.2 million in taxes last year, of which EUR 29.2 million in Latvia.<\/i><\/p>\n

In 2024, several significant investment projects were completed, such as the construction of the veneer factory \u201cKuld\u012bgas fabrika\u201d, the new metalworking workshop building of the Equipment Factory was completed. This year, the new wooden building complex at the \u201cZ\u0100BAKI\u201d tree nursery was opened. The construction of the resin factory continues. It is planned that the expansion of the \u201cVEREMS\u201d factory will be completed. Development projects are also planned at the Finnish factory \u201cSastamala\u201d and the Estonian factory \u201cKohila Vineer\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"Latvijas Finieris\" has been actively cooperating with international and national institutions for several years to promote market transparency and limit the circulation of illegal products.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe maintain close cooperation with the European Commission, the European Federation of Wood-based Panel Manufacturers and the responsible authorities of Latvia, regularly analyzing market data and information on the origin of wood. In 2024, this cooperation allowed Latvian institutions to achieve significant progress \u2013 the import of illegal plywood into Latvia decreased 30 times compared to the previous year. However, the problem still exists in other EU countries, where such wood products are imported and then forwarded to other European Economic Area member states,\u201d<\/em><\/i>\u00a0says J. Ciems.<\/p>\n

Taking into account the increase in production and ambitious development plans, \u201cLatvijas Finieris\u201d is purposefully moving towards obtaining approximately half of the volume of plywood blocks required by the group outside the territory of Latvia in the coming years. However, the group\u2019s investments in its own managed land and forest properties are equally important. In 2024, \u201cLatvijas Finieris\u201d invested 15.2 million EUR, acquiring forests and land covering an area of \u200b\u200balmost 3,000 ha.
