<\/span>Finnish woodworking machinery manufacturer Raute said on Wednesday it will begin change negotiations that could lead to temporary layoffs of up to 90 days in its Wood Processing and Analyzers business units in Finland, as weaker demand weighs on new orders.<\/p>\n

The negotiations will affect around 400 employees across all Raute locations in Finland. Any layoffs would take place during the second half of 2025.<\/p>\n

The company said its group-level order book remains at a reasonable level due to earlier contracts. However, a sharp decline in new orders in 2025 for the Wood Processing and Analyzers units is expected to reduce workload significantly starting in July or August.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe timing of order deliveries affects different functions in different cycles. To temporarily adjust capacity, we are initiating change negotiations on potential layoffs,\u201d Raute said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The duration and scope of any layoffs will depend on how the order situation develops in the coming months, the company added. All employee groups within the two affected business units could be impacted.<\/p>\n

Raute supplies technology and services for the production of veneer, plywood, and LVL (laminated veneer lumber), with key markets in Europe, North America, and Asia.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
