{"id":88895,"date":"2025-05-28T06:30:31","date_gmt":"2025-05-28T06:30:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/moelven-ceo-more-sawmills-expected-to-close\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T09:04:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T09:04:20","slug":"moelven-ceo-more-sawmills-expected-to-close","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/moelven-ceo-more-sawmills-expected-to-close\/","title":{"rendered":"Moelven CEO: More sawmills expected to close"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"94\" data-end=\"274\">Following Moelven's decision to shut down its sawmill in Ransby, V\u00e4rmland, Anders Lindh, head of the Moelven Timber division, comments on the state of the Swedish sawmill industry.<span id=\"more-38292\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"276\" data-end=\"399\">According to Anders Lindh, high raw material prices are making it impossible for sawmills to operate profitably at present.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"401\" data-end=\"584\"><strong data-start=\"401\" data-end=\"492\">High raw material prices, rising production costs, and a challenging market environment<\/strong> have squeezed margins for Moelven\u2019s Ransby sawmill in northern V\u00e4rmland over the past year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"586\" data-end=\"746\">Eventually, it became too difficult to maintain profitability, and on May 19, Moelven was forced to inform the 38 employees that the sawmill would be shut down.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"922\">Speaking to Swedish Radio's P4 V\u00e4rmland, Anders Lindh said the Ransby sawmill had historically performed well, but current market conditions made the operation unsustainable.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"1040\">\n<p data-start=\"926\" data-end=\"1040\">\u201cWith the raw material prices we have now, it\u2019s basically impossible to produce profitably at a sawmill,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1042\" data-end=\"1127\">Like many others, Lindh believes the Swedish sawmill industry is currently in crisis.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1303\">\n<p data-start=\"1131\" data-end=\"1303\">\u201cMy assessment is that practically all sawmills in the southern part of Sweden are currently borrowing money to stay in production. That\u2019s not sustainable in the long run.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1305\" data-end=\"1404\">He does not rule out the possibility that more sawmills will be forced to close in the near future.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1406\" data-end=\"1508\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1508\" data-is-last-node=\"\">\u201cI don\u2019t think this will be the last thing to happen in Sweden\u2019s sawmill sector,\u201d said Anders Lindh.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following Moelven&#8217;s decision to shut down its sawmill in Ransby, V\u00e4rmland, Anders Lindh, head of the Moelven Timber division, comments on the state of the Swedish sawmill industry.
