The Turkish unit of wood-based panels manufacturer Kronospan is under investigation by Turkey\u2019s competition authority over alleged collusion in the procurement of raw materials<\/span>, the regulator said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The probe also includes Turkish firms \u00c7amsan Entegre and Kastamonu Entegre, both major producers in the medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and particleboard sector. The companies are accused of potentially violating Article 4 of Turkey\u2019s competition law, which prohibits agreements that restrict or distort competition.<\/p>\n

According to the Turkish Competition Board, the investigation follows a preliminary inquiry that raised significant concerns about anti-competitive practices in the raw material supply chain. The regulator said it had sufficient evidence to open a formal investigation under Article 41 of the Competition Act No. 4054.<\/p>\n

The companies under investigation produce a range of wood-based products, including raw and melamine-faced particleboard, MDF, laminate flooring, and formaldehyde-based resins. The sector\u2019s trade association is also being examined for possible involvement.<\/p>\n

The authority noted that launching an investigation does not imply the companies have been found guilty or that penalties will be imposed. The findings will determine whether any breaches of competition law have occurred.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
