Accordingly, demand behavior also differs. In the south, the stockpiles are partially full, and the mills are therefore only partially able to take in logs. In the west, there has been a slight decrease in demand, while in the north, demand remains high. Contractually agreed quantities are being quickly transported away. While some road closures cause delays, larger forest stockpiles are not present. Prices have stabilized. Larch is still in strong demand, although some price peaks have been capped. Sales of pine are proving difficult. A quick removal of logs after felling is crucial to avoid quality losses due to blue stain.<\/p>\n<p>The hardwood sawlog season is largely finished. Looking back, the demand boom for oak continued, but the marketing of lower-quality oak compared to previous years has become more challenging. Ash also experienced strong demand.<\/p>\n<p>The paper, pulp, and panel industries are mostly well-stocked with industrial roundwood. Outside of the damage zones, there is a continuous removal and quick transport despite subdued demand. In eastern Austria, the removal is delayed, but it is still occurring continuously. In the south, however, supply exceeds demand. Prices have slightly decreased regionally. Red beech fiberwood is somewhat weaker in demand due to limited acceptance and regionally reduced prices.<\/p>\n<p>Due to high stock levels at the start of the heating season and mild temperatures during the winter months, buyers are well-stocked with energy wood. Marketing additional quantities outside of long-term contracts is almost impossible.
