Roundwood prices in Germany remained stable from February to March, following slight regional increases in softwood sawlog prices the previous month.<\/span><\/p>\n

The benchmark price for spruce sawlogs (BC 2b+) generally ranges between \u20ac100 and \u20ac105 per cubic meter (\u20ac\/m3), with some transactions still falling below \u20ac100\/m3 and only a few exceeding \u20ac105\/m3. High-quality spruce long logs can reach up to \u20ac120\/m3.<\/p>\n

Pine sawlogs typically trade between \u20ac75 and \u20ac80\/m3, with peak prices reaching \u20ac93\/m3. Pine long logs follow a similar pricing pattern. Larch and Douglas fir, which saw significant price increases in February, have also stabilized in March, with top prices ranging from \u20ac120 to \u20ac125\/m3.<\/p>\n

Softwood pallet wood is mostly priced between \u20ac40 and \u20ac45 per solid cubic meter (\u20ac\/Rm), occasionally surpassing \u20ac50\/Rm. Industrial softwood logs for ISN\/OSB assortments are around \u20ac30\/Rm, with some regional variations. The ISFK assortment is typically priced between \u20ac25 and \u20ac30\/Rm.<\/p>\n

Hardwood prices, generally set for the entire season, have also remained stable. Beech logs (C-grade, diameter class 4) are priced between \u20ac85 and \u20ac100\/m3, while oak in the same grade is mostly traded between \u20ac160 and \u20ac190\/m3.<\/p>\n

The outlook for lumber demand in Germany and Europe remains uncertain. Although domestic sawnwood sales remain weak due to the struggling construction sector, easing credit conditions and declining interest rates could trigger a rebound in construction activity. A government-backed infrastructure investment program could further boost demand for construction timber.<\/p>\n

Felix Pakleppa, managing director of the German Construction Industry Association, stated: \"The construction sector has the capacity and expertise to execute necessary infrastructure projects immediately. Currently, 40% of construction companies report a lack of orders.\"<\/p>\n

If demand for construction timber rises while strong exports continue to limit domestic supply, sawlog prices could experience further upward pressure in 2025.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
