<\/span>Global wood-based panel manufacturing giant Kronospan will now produce sawn timber products for the first time following the acquisition of Ziegler Group\u2019s Sebe\u0219 sawmill. The agreement, signed on March 1, 2025, is pending regulatory approvals and is expected to be finalized by mid-year.<\/p>\n

The Sebe\u0219 sawmill, previously operated by ZG Timber, processes up to 1.45 million cubic meters of wood annually. In addition to sawn timber, the facility produces wood chips and sawmill by-products, including pellets with an annual capacity of 225,000 tons. The acquisition ensures the continuity of operations and secures 500 direct jobs following the insolvency of Ziegler Holding GmbH at the end of 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of its strategy to enhance its product offerings, Kronospan will now incorporate sawn timber products into its global portfolio,\u201d the company said in statement.<\/p>\n

Kronospan plans to integrate sawn timber products into its existing portfolio, which includes particleboard (PB), medium-density fibreboard (MDF), and oriented strand board (OSB). The company also intends to invest in modernizing the Sebe\u0219 sawmill to improve production efficiency.<\/p>\n

Romania has been a key location for Kronospan since 1998, with the company investing over \u20ac600 million in production facilities. Besides the Sebe\u0219 and Bra\u0219ov plants, it operates a logistics center in the Port of Constan\u021ba and several wood collection and recycling centers. Kronospan's production in Romania reaches 75 countries, including Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
