<\/span>The German Federal Cartel Office has approved Rettenmeier Holding AG\u2019s acquisition of key operations from the insolvent Ziegler Group. Following Ziegler\u2019s insolvency, administrator Volker B\u00f6hm signed the purchase agreement with Rettenmeier at the end of January, securing several strategic assets, including Ziegler Holzindustrie GmbH & Co. KG (sawmill), Ziegler Naturenergie GmbH, Ziegler Forstservice GmbH, and Holzzentrum Ziegler GmbH. Additionally, the deal includes the non-insolvent Prechtl GmbH Anlagen- und Maschinenbau and Ruhland Druckluft & Systemtechnik GmbH.<\/p>\n

Rettenmeier, one of Europe\u2019s leading wood processing companies, has committed to maintaining all locations and preserving most of the jobs across the acquired businesses. However, around 200 positions, mainly in logistics, are being cut. The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.<\/p>\n

Ziegler Group filed for insolvency in 2024 after facing financial difficulties, leading to the sale of several key operations. Rettenmeier CEO Dr. Stephan Lang emphasized the strategic importance of the Pl\u00f6\u00dfberg sawmill and its integration into the company\u2019s operations.
