Lower deliveries and increased log costs were offset by higher selling prices and increased revenue from sales of wood chips and biofuel.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"580\" data-end=\"759\">Compared with the third quarter, operating profit for the fourth quarter decreased from approximately \u20ac0 to \u20ac-1.58 million, as a result of increasing log costs in southern Sweden.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"761\" data-end=\"923\">A rebuilding shutdown at Iggesund Sawmill is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025 and is expected to have a negative impact on earnings of about \u20ac2.63 million.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1082\">Holmen CEO Henrik Sj\u00f6lund noted that interest in building with wood remains high, but demand is currently low due to the weakness of the construction sector.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1084\" data-end=\"1197\">\u201cPrices have nevertheless increased by 10% over the past year due to global shortages of raw materials,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1547\">\u201cIn the fourth quarter, wood product prices were stable, but increasing costs for logs, particularly in southern Sweden, led to a negative result for Wood Products in the fourth quarter of approximately \u20ac-1.58 million. We are in a strong position for when the construction cycle turns, with well-invested sawmills and expanded processing capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1549\" data-end=\"1639\">Group-wide, operating profit for 2024 was approximately \u20ac324 million (2023: \u20ac414 million).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swedish sawmiller Holmen has reported continuing low demand for wood products in Q4 2024, though prices remained stable.
