<\/span>Moelven Byggmodul AB, facing continued weakness in the construction market, has announced the layoff of 70 employees from its Swedish operations.<\/p>\n

The layoffs, which include 50 white-collar workers and 20 salaried employees, primarily affect the company's largest unit in S\u00e4ffle, though other units are also impacted. Union negotiations are now pending following the announcement.<\/p>\n

Henrik Asp, CEO of Moelven Byggmodul, expressed regret over the decision. \"It is sad to once again have to give this type of notice to our employees. The construction market remains very weak, and we are forced to make these adjustments to align with demand,\" he said in a press release.<\/p>\n

The layoffs are confined to the Swedish operations and do not affect the company's Norwegian sister company.<\/p>\n

Challenges in the market and a hopeful outlook<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moelven Byggmodul has faced a tough market over the last two years, resulting in several rounds of layoffs. Despite securing deals that allowed the factories to operate at a reduced capacity, the company has not yet seen a market recovery. Asp remains hopeful, however, noting that there is a positive outlook for 2025.<\/p>\n

\"We believe the market will brighten in 2025,\" Asp commented. \"As we've communicated before, we've secured several deals in the past year, including residential and hotel projects. We also have a pipeline full of larger and smaller deals. Unfortunately, the decision-making process for new deals is taking longer than expected, and some clients have struggled to secure financing. We hope that lower interest rates will help revitalize the market, but it will take time and start from very low levels.\"<\/p>\n

Asp added that many in the industry expect a recovery to take place in the latter part of 2025, with a stronger rebound expected in 2026.<\/p>\n
