The sawmill industry remains receptive in December 2024. Supplied volumes are being quickly transported away unless weather conditions cause restrictions. In regions with existing calamity wood, prices remain stable, while outside these areas, they have risen slightly, with nationwide prices for spruce A\/C 2b+ ranging between \u20ac95 and \u20ac115. Pine is selling at stable prices, according to the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture (LK\u00d6). Demand for larch remains strong due to the lack of Siberian larch on the market.<\/p>\n<p>The low construction activity is also starting to be felt in the hardwood sawlog market. Oak and ash, particularly in high-quality grades, are still in strong demand, while C-grade qualities are seeing reduced interest. For light-colored hardwoods such as cherry and maple, lower demand for interior construction projects is leading to declining roundwood prices.<\/p>\n<p>Facilities in the paper, pulp, and panel industries are generally well-stocked with industrial softwood logs. Supply and demand are balanced, although regional increases in supply are occurring due to calamities. Transportation and intake are proceeding steadily, with prices unchanged from the previous month. Beech pulpwood is also in stable demand, and the sale of ash pulpwood remains possible.<\/p>\n<p>In the energy wood market, relief is not yet in sight. Buyers are sufficiently stocked, and marketing non-contractual volumes continues to be challenging.
