<\/span>The latest price increase for logs comes from the Central Sweden Forest Owners' Association, Mellanskog, which announced yesterday that it would raise roadside prices for logs by 100 SEK per cubic meter. This increase corresponds to just under 10 EUR. Mellanskog operates extensive sawmill activities.<\/p>\n

In addition to the price increase for list prices, Mellanskog also announced that it would pay an additional 50 SEK for stands that can be harvested during the thawed ground period.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see the log markets continuing to perform well. Both Setra and other sawmill companies in Central Sweden have increased their production through investments, and the demand for logs continues. With these price increases, we create added value for our owners by improving the profitability of forest ownership,\u201d said Mellanskog\u2019s CEO Fredrik Munter in a statement.<\/p>\n

Setra is a large sawmill company, and its ownership will fully transfer to Mellanskog in the first half of next year.<\/p>\n

After the increases, the roadside price for pine logs in the M\u00e4laren Valley region will range from 735 SEK (64 EUR) to 1,175 SEK (102 EUR) depending on the quality and diameter of the log. For spruce logs, the corresponding prices are 735 SEK (64 EUR) to 1,110 SEK (97 EUR) per cubic meter.<\/p>\n

Mellanskog pays 600 SEK (52 EUR) for softwood pulpwood and 630 SEK (55 EUR) for birch pulpwood. For energy wood, the payment is 490 SEK (43 EUR).<\/p>\n

A couple of weeks ago, the forest owners' association operating in the West V\u00e4rmland and Dalsland municipalities announced that it would raise spruce log prices by 70\u2013100 SEK (6\u20139 EUR) and pine log prices by 70\u201375 SEK (6\u20137 EUR).
