<\/span>The price of pine logs is once again approaching 80 euros per cubic meter, according to statistics from the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (Mets\u00e4teollisuus ry).<\/p>\n

The timber trade slows down as Christmas approaches. Last week, purchases by member companies of Mets\u00e4teollisuus ry decreased to 822,000 cubic meters, which is about 100,000 cubic meters less than the previous week.<\/p>\n

However, compared to the same period last year, purchases increased by approximately 270,000 cubic meters.<\/p>\n

Mets\u00e4teollisuus ry's member companies account for about 80% of all timber purchases in Finland.<\/p>\n

When all buyers are included, the total timber purchase volume for the industry in the first part of the year has already exceeded 45.6 million cubic meters. This is more than five million cubic meters higher than the same period last year.<\/p>\n

The average prices for sawlogs have shown a slight increase across the board. The average price for pine logs rose to 79.96 euros, spruce logs to 82.46 euros, and birch logs to 64.77 euros per cubic meter.<\/p>\n

The average prices for pulpwood, however, turned down after last week's increase. The price of spruce pulpwood fell to 33.23 euros and birch pulpwood to 32.02 euros per cubic meter. Pine pulpwood, on the other hand, saw a slight increase to 31.48 euros per cubic meter.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
