The ownership transfer is planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Setra Group AB is currently owned 50% by Sveaskog and 49.5% by the forest owners\u2019 association Mellanskog. The remaining 0.5% is held by approximately 1,400 small shareholders. The sale means that Mellanskog will acquire Sveaskog\u2019s entire stake in Setra Group.<\/p>\n<p>Setra Group is one of Sweden\u2019s largest wood industry companies and contributes to Swedish exports of wood products. The company\u2019s production facilities process forest raw materials into sawn and planed timber, glulam, CLT, and components for construction and housing. Additionally, by-products are used for domestic energy production.<\/p>\n<p>Sveaskog is Sweden's largest forest owner, managing 14% of the country's forest land. Owned by the Swedish state, the company operates independently without substantial interests as an end-user of forest raw materials. The ownership change aligns with Sveaskog\u2019s strategy of being a responsible forest owner and a previous parliamentary decision from 2009.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an owner, our task is to create optimal conditions for the company\u2019s future as a competitive and profitable business. I am therefore pleased that we have now reached an agreement with Mellanskog for them to take over our shareholding. Through this transaction, the company can develop and create long-term value for its owners. We have proudly been a part of Setra and look forward to continued cooperation,\u201d says Erik Brandsma, CEO of Sveaskog.<\/p>\n<p>Mellanskog is a forest owners\u2019 association operating from Gotland in the south to H\u00e4rjedalen in the north, with around 28,200 members. The association\u2019s main goal is to create the greatest possible value for its members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMellanskog believes in wood as a material and looks forward to continuing to develop Setra as one of Sweden\u2019s largest wood industry companies. The acquisition aligns well with our long-term business strategy and will strengthen Mellanskog\u2019s members,\u201d says Fredrik Munter, CEO of Mellanskog.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Setra Group:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Setra is one of Sweden\u2019s largest wood industry companies. Its facilities process forest raw materials into climate-friendly, high-value products such as glulam, planed timber, components, and CLT for construction and housing on a global market.<\/p>\n<p>Setra\u2019s timber comes from responsibly managed forests in some of the world\u2019s best raw material areas for softwood. Setra also sells by-products such as bark, chips, and sawdust to customers in the paper and pulp industry as well as for energy production.<\/p>\n<p>The group includes subsidiaries such as Setra Tr\u00e4varor, operations in England under Setra Wood Products, and Pyrocell, co-owned with Preem.<\/p>\n<p>Setra is a limited company owned 50% by Sveaskog and 49.5% by the forest owners\u2019 association Mellanskog.
