EU softwood lumber exports to the US fell significantly in the first nine months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. <\/span>Export volumes decreased by 16.3%, totaling 2.61 million m\u00b3, while the export value declined by 15%, amounting to \u20ac699.78 million.<\/p>\n

Germany, the largest EU exporter of softwood lumber to the US, saw its shipments decrease by 18% to 1.49 million m\u00b3, while export value dropped by 22% to \u20ac372.51 million. Similarly, Sweden, the second-largest exporter, experienced a 9% drop in volume to 760,354 m\u00b3 and a 10% decline in export value to \u20ac203.26 million.<\/p>\n

Latvia was a notable exception, with its exports to the US surging by 48% in volume and nearly doubling in value to \u20ac29.62 million.\u00a0 Finland also showed resilience, with only a modest 6% drop in export value, despite challenging market conditions.<\/p>\n
