<\/span>A weak recovery in China is putting pressure on Swedish forest companies, where estimates for the fourth quarter have been adjusted down considerably. However, analysts believe that a turnaround may be on the horizon, with signs of stabilization and potential price increases for sawn timber and pulp in 2025.<\/p>\n

The Swedish forest sector has struggled with weakened demand due to China's slower-than-expected economic rebound. According to a report by Finwire\/Dagens Industri, this has significantly impacted companies in the industry, prompting them to lower their short-term expectations. However, analysts suggest this adjustment could mark the beginning of a gradual recovery.<\/p>\n

Oskar Lindstr\u00f6m, an analyst at Danske Bank, views the current situation as the lowest point of the economic cycle. He anticipates that fourth-quarter results and the first quarter of 2025 will reflect these challenges but expects improvement later in the year as supply and demand begin to balance out.<\/p>\n

Ola S\u00f6dermark of Kepler Cheuvreux agrees that the market is nearing its trough but tempers expectations of a strong recovery in the immediate term. Meanwhile, Johannes Grunselius from DNB predicts price increases for sawn timber and pulp. He highlights the unsustainable margins for sawn timber and foresees a resolution to the Chinese order freeze, which could spur demand.<\/p>\n

Despite the current difficulties, analysts are cautiously optimistic about the Swedish forestry industry's future. They suggest that the cyclical downturn may soon give way to more favorable conditions, bolstered by price adjustments and improving market dynamics.<\/p>\n
