Half of Sweden's forest owners believe that timber prices will continue to rise. At the same time, those who believe that prices have peaked and will turn downward have become fewer. This is shown by the annual survey Forest Barometer conducted by Swedbank.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The percentage of forest owners who believe in rising timber prices has increased from 46 percent last year to 50 percent this year. In 2022, the proportion was 40 percent. This year, 30 percent believe prices will be largely unchanged, an increase of three percentage points from last year.<\/p>\n

The percentage of forest owners who believe that timber prices will fall has decreased from 16 percent last year to ten percent in this year's survey. In 2022, the corresponding figure was 24 percent.<\/p>\n

High perceived profitability<\/strong><\/p>\n

51 percent of those surveyed believe that pulpwood prices will rise in the next three years, which is an increase from 47 percent last year. 32 percent believe in unchanged pulpwood prices and only eight percent believe that pulpwood prices will decrease.<\/p>\n

Six out of ten forest owners (64 percent) feel that the profitability of private forestry is very good or satisfactory, which is an increase of two percentage points compared to last year. It is the highest perceived profitability in ten years.<\/p>\n

Among forest owners who receive the majority of their income from forestry, a full 88 percent think that the profitability is very good or satisfactory.<\/p>\n

Strong faith in the future<\/strong><\/p>\n

65 percent of forest owners believe that profitability in the next three years will be very good or satisfactory. Last year, the figure was 63 percent. Forest owners over 60 have the greatest confidence in future profitability.<\/p>\n

\"Forest owners' optimism about continued good profitability in forestry occurs despite a weak forestry economy and uncertain environment. A lack of supply and an increased use of inputs from the forest drive up the prices of timber and pulpwood and have led to the highest perceived profitability of the country's forest owners in the last ten years,\" says J\u00f6rgen Kennemar, business economist at Swedbank, in a press release.<\/p>\n
