Estimates of the economic situation of companies in the wood products industry are still weak, as the construction cycle is weak throughout Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The production of the forest industry's most important product groups increased in July-September from the previous year, with the exception of paper production. Despite the rather strong growth, production volumes are still below 2022.<\/p>\n<p>In the second quarter of the year, 0.76 million tons of paper were produced in Finland. The production volume decreased by 3.3 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2023. Cardboard production increased by 22.9 percent compared to a year ago. A total of 1.01 million tons of cardboard was produced.<\/p>\n<p>Pulp was produced 17.4 percent more than a year ago in the corresponding quarter, a total of 1.87 million tons.<\/p>\n<p>Sawn timber production volumes in Finland grew considerably compared to the previous year. 2.63 million cubic meters of lumber were produced, which is 20.3 percent more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>The production volumes of all key product groups increased in January-September. The production volume of paper increased by 8.2 percent, cardboard by 12.9 percent, pulp by 2.0 percent and lumber by 1.2 percent compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>&#x200d;According to the most recent monthly statistics of the foreign trade of goods, the value of exports of forest industry products increased by 9.6 percent in August from a year ago.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The production of forest industry products in Finland has increased this year, but the development has lagged behind expectations since the summer, states the Finnish Forest Industry Federation (FFIF).
